From the moment you step into the hammam, the warm, enveloping heat begins its work. The body slowly adapts, breathing softens, and the skin starts to open. The client is gently rinsed from head to toe, then fully covered with black soap.
This dark, silky paste made from olive oil glides over the skin. Under the effect of the heat, it cleanses, softens, and deeply prepares the skin. After rinsing off the black soap, a few minutes are allowed for the body to sweat, letting the warmth activate the ritual.
Once the skin is ready, I return to the hammam to perform traditional exfoliation using a kessa glove. With slow, firm movements, the skin is exfoliated from head to toe. The dead skin visibly rolls off, falling away in small curls, revealing a clean, smooth, and renewed skin. It is a striking and almost mesmerizing moment, a true transformation of the body.
The ritual continues with shower gel and shampoo, leaving an immediate feeling of freshness and lightness. At this point, the hammam treatment is complete. However, relaxation continues as the client enjoys a few more minutes in the warmth of the hammam while the tea is being prepared.
The experience ends with a peaceful and comforting moment: the sharing of traditional Moroccan tea. During this pause, the skin and face are moisturized, then delicately perfumed, prolonging the sensations of wellbeing and leaving the body relaxed, the skin radiant, and the mind deeply soothed.
