Introduction
Mektoub is an Arabic word meaning that everything is written, that nothing happens by chance. Life is beautiful and often surprising.
My life experiences, disappointments and encounters have led me to become the manager of Dâr Layla.
I have had various jobs over the years: after-school and summer camp counsellor, restaurant waitress, electrical appliance sales assistant, sales representative, and then caregiver. A varied career path, but one thing connects them all: personal service.
Among all these experiences and throughout my personal development, the one that has had the greatest impact on me, the one that has truly transformed me, is undoubtedly my job as a caregiver. It taught me the importance of touch, delicacy and the right movements. I understood what it really means to care for someone, whether it’s helping them wash or simply getting dressed.
At that time, the idea of a hammam was already firmly in my mind. But this experience reinforced my desire to care for my future clients in a special, attentive and deeply human way.
Above all, it helped me understand an essential need: to take time for oneself.
I would probably earn a much better living if I didn’t offer private services. But I made a choice: to prioritise quality over quantity. Perhaps because I am an empathetic person, I like to offer others what I myself expect: to prioritise quality over quantity. No doubt because I am an empathetic person, I like to offer others what I expect for myself: a break, sincere attention, the feeling of being cherished, listened to and respected.
I wanted to make my hammam a safe haven, a place where you can allow yourself to let go, to cry, to release whatever needs to be released. A place where you can unwind, relax and let your emotions flow, whether during a hammam treatment or a massage.
In the simplest and most human sense: what happens in the hammam stays in the hammam, without judgement, without prying eyes.
